Mountain lion or deer

Saw these bones on the side of the road. The size makes me think it
was a deer, but the head and ruff looks like a mountain lion. No
matter. Something ate it.

A Visit To Squaw Creek Wildlife Refuge

My DH (David) and I decided to go on a day trip to Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge, hoping to see some birds and other wildlife. We also wanted to try out our cameras. We recently purchased a Canon 5D Mark II, we already had a Canon 5D.

I think I finally persuaded him that he should have the new Canon 5DMark II. It's the logical thing to do since he is the better
photographer and does the majority of the photo work.

We saw a lot of ducks and geese . . . . . . . . . .

And some very frisky turtles. It looked like a turtle holiday!!!

While we didn't see as many different birds and animals as we would have liked, David did manage to get a photo of a pheasant...at least I think it was a pheasant. It had to have been a male because it was so colorful.

We thoroughly enjoyed our outing and hope to return when the trees are green.

New High Bowling Score

It's Tuesday, March 17th, St. Patrick's Day!! Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!! It's also the day we bowl in our Golden Oldies league.

My first game was pitiful, a lowly 105. When I rolled my ball like I normally do, it would slide right off the lane. What was I going to do??? I didn't know where to stand or where to aim. I tried everything I could think of.

I was ready to quit, fake an injury, throw up...whatever. I just wanted to leave. I told myself, "I'm wearing green, I look ghastly in green". David called me Kermit!! But I had to stay. My second game didn't start off very well, so I decided I had better do something drastic. I was NOT going to bowl as badly as I did the first game. I decided to move over to the spot I use to line up for picking up the 10 pin. I thought this might be good since I have trouble picking up 10 pin spares...my ball gets close and then just hooks away. So, maybe it would curve back close to the pocket, if not into the pocket. And, voila, it worked. I ended up with a 204 in the second game.

Now for the third. Was my bright idea going to work for the third game. YES!! it worked. I ended up with a 231!! My highest game ever. I'll probably never bowl this much again, but it was nice while it lasted!!

Meaty Subject

Last night we hosted our monthly poker party. These are always a lot of fun and the food is fabulous. We have some very good cooks attending these parties. Most of the time we have a theme and everyone brings a dish based on the theme. Let me tell you, these ladies and gentlemen know what's good!!

Last night we thought we would make it easy on everyone, so we just had appetizers and desserts. We had homemade apple pie with vanilla ice cream....yummmm, a Robert Redford type chocolate dessert, cheesy bread, veggies, fruit, cookies, a barbecue chicken nugget dish, chips, and David and I prepared puff pastry filled with chicken, cream cheese and chives, and some with a beef taco cheese filling. These were very good and we will fix them again (in fact we had them for dinner).
